The time is close to record the next chapter in the BiCoastal Collective story. Here is a small blurb on each band member. We’ll officially update the family page when get the project in the can. Can you say “Boy Howdy”??? We knew y’all could!
Saxophones
Bobby Selvaggio – Alto. Bobby is based in Cleveland and one of the baddest alto players around today. He is the Director of Jazz Studies at Kent State. Bobby played on BC1.
Steve Jones – Alto. At home on all the saxophones, Steve is a free thinker and real serious modern jazz improviser. Steve is the Director of Jazz Studies at Texas Tech.
David Lown – Tenor. Dave’s way of thought when he approaches improvising is what we all strive for. He is a true Jazz sensei. Dave teaches at Carroll Senior High School and runs their wold class jazz program.
Marcus Wolfe – Tenor. A master of tradition, Marcus has sunk his roots deep in the “Way of Getz”. He directs the Down Beat award winning Valley Christian Conservatory jazz studies program.
Aaron Lington – Baritone. A Co-leading of the BiCoastal Collective and a Grammy Award Winning composer and performer, Aaron can be found playing with the best of the San Fransisco Bay Area. Of course, Aaron has played on and contributed compositions and arrangements to all the BiCoastal Collective recordings.
Trumpets
Jason Levi – Lead. Jason is one of the best in the biz. A top call player in Las Vegas he’s also performed with bands from the Nelson Riddle Orchestra to Cirque du Soleil.
Ken Edwards – an alum of Maynard Ferguson’s band, Ken is a fantastic section player and an amazing soloist. He is Professor of jazz studies at University of Texas in Arlington.
Daniel Matthews – A DFW based monster of a player. Daniel has taught at the University of North Texas and backed up musicians such as Arturo Sandoval, and Doc Severinsen.
Micah Bell – Micah is director of the Dallas Area Youth Jazz Orchestra, and the trumpet professor at Collin College. A busy DFW musician playing all styles.
Paul Tynan – Based in Nova Scotia, Paul is Co-Leader of the BiCoastal Collective. A veteran jazz recording artist who has appeared on 70 + records, Paul also shares the arranging and composing duties in the BiCoastal Collective.
Trombones
Paul Compton – is a prolific performer and educator. Paul is devoted to premiering new works; his body of work is truly prodigious. PC is also professor of trombone at Oklahoma State University.
Carl Lundgren – “A versatile musician with a hearty appetite for exploration and experimentation” best describes Carl. He is a member of the renowned trombone band The Maniacal 4.

Alex Dubrov – Also a member of The Maniacal 4, Alex can be found performing all over the Dallas area. His credits include performances with Aretha Franklin to Earth, and Wind & Fire’s Bobby Burns, Jr. Alex is also a polyglot in the making.
Joshua Brown – is a freelance bass trombonist in the Dallas area. He is at home is any ensemble that needs bass trombone; where he makes them sound better. His credits include performances with Slide Hampton, Harry Connick, Sr., and Frank Sinatra Jr..
Rhythm
Noel Johnston – Guitar. Noel is a vital fixture in the DFW music world. He is featured on over 40 albums—three as a leader, two as a co-leader. He has performed and/or recorded with international musicians including Dave Liebman, Joe Lovano, and Kenny Wheeler. He also the house guitarist for the Daystar Christian television network. Noel is also funny. #farm
Josh Hanlon – Piano. Nova Scotian by birth and Texan by choice Josh held the piano chair in County Music legend, Ray Prices’ band for many years. His music breadth is wide and spans gigs with musicians from Willie Nelson to Jimmy Cobb.
Mike Luzecky – Bass. Nothing beats being an in-demand young musician and that’s exactly what Mike is. Originally from St. Louis, now based in Texas, Mike is at home on acoustic and electric bass. He brings a fantastic sense of foreword motion and interactive spirit.
Stockton Helbing – Drums and Cymbals. An iconic figure in jazz today. Stockton has performed with the likes of Erika Badu, The Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Denis DiBlasio, The Cincinnati Pops, Chip McNeill, Phil Woods, and Randy Brecker. He was a long time member of Maynard Ferguson’s band (as Maynards last musical director to boot), and is currently a member of Doc Severson band. Stockton recorded on BiCoastal Collective: Chapter one and we’re happy to have him back on the throne.
